This is a .fla template created to make it easier to upload a lot of .flv videos to the site in one single .swf file.

The second post in this thread will be a download for the actual template and after that I'll post some screenshots of it.

The flash creates a preloader system automatically for you that lets you watch videos as each one finish loading, no need to wait for the entire flash to download.

The videos gets smoothing turned on and are of course rescaled to fit the screen with preserved aspect ratio. The actual stage size of the flash is 800x600 pixels (4:3).

The first is to fill in the start screen displayed here. Each video will be imported on its own frame (2-11) and can have two bits of information:

Name and source.

The source is written inside parentheses. If it is an integer it is assumed to be a swfchan flash ID (the template was created mainly with swf to flv clip conversions in mind), in which case a clickable "watch original" link will be created. But the source can be replaced by any other text as well, or becomes blank if a source of (0) is given.

It's important to remember what video you put in what frame so that the buttons created in the flash is correct. Notice that the order goes from left to right and then same on the next row.

+ Click on keyframe 2-11 on the main timeline.
+ Double-Click the text.

+ Press CTRL+R.
+ Browse to a .flv file.
+ Select that it should be embedded into the timeline.
+ Press next untill it finishes. The default options should be what you want.
+ Click "Scene 1" at the top left corner next to the clapperboard.

Repeat this for the rest of the videos you want to put in your flash. Double check the order on the start screen so the buttons are correct. You'll notice that the title on keyframe 6 and 11 are highlighted in pink, this is just to make it more clear that those are the mid and end videos (it's easy to see "frame 6" and think it's video 6 and not in fact video 5).

Once the start screen is filled in and all the videos are imported all you need to do is hit CTRL+Enter to export the finished swf file, ready to share

The template was done on request. Surely someone out there will find it useful (hopefully at least the person that requested it).

The default framerate of the flash is 25 FPS by the way, though it can be changed under properties if you select nothing (click the background). It's always best if it matches the framerate of all of your imported .flv files, though in my tests it didn't matter sometimes and the video played back fine even though the framerates didn't match (the .flv was probably modified upon import by the program). I'll also quickly mention that both mute and videos with audio is supported.

Currently there are no advanced video controls, it just loops forever until the user clicks somewhere - this ends the video and returns the flash to the list of buttons. Possible future updates could include playback controls, it depends on if this thing is actually used enough to merit an update.

Adobe includes a good video to flv converter with Flash CS called "Adobe Media Encoder". Remember to use the FLV format with the On2 VP6 codec and if you want to use very low bitrate for the audio you can increase the sound quality by setting it to mono. Have fun!
