Offline Bootable SWF Archive

Hello Friends! I come bearing gifts!
I created a bootable USB flash-drive image for viewing Adobe Flash (.SWF) files offline.

https://anonfile.com/XdP64eT4m9/bootableSWFarchiv e_iso

As you may or may not be aware, official support for
Adobe Flash will be ending in 2020, and already,
Compatibility with modern web browsers is scarce,
unstable, and not secure, to say the least.

Because of this, I have decided to hunt down an older
distribution of Linux, along with the Latest version of
the official Adobe Flash Stand-alone player (Mar 2019),
and sorted through my collection of .SWF files that I
have been saving from all of the internet for the last
10-15 years, to make this bootable, self-contained
USB-Disk image for use offline.

I know, that I could have organized things better, and I'm sure you guys know of better Linux distributions I could have used, or better ways to configure everything. I'd like some feedback.
Also, this is a wholesome and clean archive. If you're looking for my porn, it's over here:
https://anonfile.com/H0l522T8mc/HentaiFlash_zip

I hope you like it!

I don't know what to say really.
Why are people freaking out so much about this as long as the projector exists?
Just put the projector into a good sandbox and that's it.
Also, as soon as support for flash is dropped it will also be much less appealing for malware, so security issues in the distant future shouldn't pose as too much of a problem.

This archive uses the standalone projector, but running in Linux makes you less likely to get a virus or whatever, and running from a USB flash drive separates your .SWF files from your personal data in the off-chance you do get an attack.

KVM is almost ready just w8 thx btw

>>67639
plz maan don't leave unity3d in the cold
also it would be better if the OS and the flash archive is in a different zip file

that was a typo. Sorry man, just ignore the >>22042.
I put the .swf files into the .iso, since I was kind of required to pick a disk size (with or without free space), and 8GB seemed like a happy medium.
I don't know anything about KVM. Is it good? How would it benefit a project like this?

i could use Vbox but this seems much better
not much benefit for speed i think

also what distro is this is it ubuntu based ?

>>Anonymous  26mar2019(tu)08:19  No.67660  OP  P7R6
>>67659
Yes. It's Xubuntu 9.10 64-bit (circa 2009). I thought about using regular Ubuntu, but this uses less RAM. I also tried using the 32-bit version for better compatibility with older systems (lol why would you need more than 4GB RAM for Flash?) but the Standalone projector doesn't work with a 32-bit OS.
I also know little to nothing about distros like Arch, OpenSUSE, Fedora, etc. So this seemed like the best choice, but I'm definitely open to suggestions.

>but running in Linux makes you less likely to get a virus or whatever
This misconception is the whole reason why flash has gotten a bad reputation in the first place! Viewing a .swf file will NOT give you a virus and it won't delete your System32 either. Most reports of flash giving someone virus is just because the flash file redirected to an external source that gave him the virus but the user was too dense to understand that it wasn't actually flash that gave him virus. And privacy concerns were just that information can be shared between Local Shared Objects (so called flash cookies) even though the user is browsing in private mode.
Speaking about offline SWF archives I will also link to this: http://bluemaxima.org/flashpoint/ I haven't tried it myself but 76.1 GB of flash/shockwave/html5/unity/applets/silverlight/e tc does not sound like something to sneeze at. If you could combine this with your linux boot it would be worthwhile OP, since BlueMaxima's Flashpoint project would be wise to sandbox just in case, unlike just watching a swf file through the official Adobe projector, still available at: https://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/kb/archived- flash-player-versions.html

Interesting... I was not aware of this project. I just joined their Discord, and posted links to my archive all over it. Now I'll have to discuss merging the two with this BlueMaxima guy. Thanks for the heads-up!
My archive uses the projector you linked (Linux version), but you can never be too safe, ya know!

When I tested, it worked great. I use Mint 17 as my main OS, and I just right clicked the .ISO, and chose "Make Bootable USB Stick". Worked perfectly.
Make sure you use a USB drive with 4KB clusters, as my other USB drive with 16KB clusters took unbearably long to write/boot and kept crashing.

Probably. I've never tried it myself, but I've been seeing people all over the internet using VMs for this. Give it a shot!

Yeah, apparently some people have been getting that problem. It worked fine when I cloned it, and several other people too, but it seems kinda hit or miss. Here's the SFW flash files in a plain ol' .ZIP file. I still recommend using Linux and the standalone projector to view these.

Otherwise, check out BlueMaxima's Flashpoint webgame archive. I am currently trying to merge my files with their's. it's HUGE!
