ImageToVectorToFlash

This thread is about http://eye.swfchan.com/services/imagetovectortofl ash/

I worked a bit on this last week but want to spend time on another project at the moment. Since I don't know when and if I will continue I decided to release this as version 0.4.0. There's a lot more I wanted to put in there but it's better to put it out as it is rather than maybe never.

To be honest I'm not sure why I did this, it just felt like fun at the time. Will anyone actually use it?

totally plan to use it. I have a folder with many images that I've been wanting to trace and cut out for flash animation. But I have a problem.

start "ImageToVectorToFlash" "javaw" -Xmx5000m -jar programJar

Is what I put in when I edit and what I get out is a Java (TM) Web Start 10.79.2.15-fcs console with an ok button, which then closes the program

This is the error

Cool, so the program will be used after all.

Looks like the wrong java program is being run on your computer, try replacing "javaw" with "C:\Program Files (x86)\Java\jre7\bin\javaw.exe". Note that "jre7" might be something else on your system (also, maybe " (x86)" should be removed depending on your installation).

I did as you instructed and I got:

Error:Could not create the Java Virtual Machine.
Error: A fatal exception has occurred. Program will exit.

start "ImageToVectorToFlash" "C:\Program Files (x86)\Java\jre7\bin\javaw.exe" -Xmx5000m -jar programJar

That is exactly what I have when I try to edit the file.

C:\Program Files (x86)\Java\jre7\bin

That is the file location of javaw.

This program could be monumental. A simpler way to cut up an image and use the piece for animating in flash. Imagine how many more flash animations could be made. Could be the future, who knows. Anon supports you!

Hehe, wait with the praise until you've actually tried it. The vector paths created by the program that is put into flash contains a lot of points so it's not too easy to manipulate them as I would imagine is desirable during an animation. Coloring also still takes patience.

Try removing "-Xmx5000m" completely from the command line and see if it then at least starts. If not, would you mind uninstalling Java and installing a new clean version of it?

I'm also interested in hearing if the program works for other people or if everybody gets the same errors.

I'm glad you got it running, was it removing "-Xmx5000m" that worked or reinstalling Java?

removing those characters

Alright, I'll add a note of it on the project page. If you ever get any errors it might be because the Java Virtual Machine ran out of memory, in that case try putting "-Xmx5000m" back but with a lower number, maybe 1000 would work instead of 5000.

Hope you don't get ticked off at me for stealing your idea, but it inspired me to make this:
